Purpose
Liberty is dedicated to ensuring the safety and beauty of our service territory through effective vegetation management. We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable System Arborist to join our team and help us achieve our goals.
Hourly Rate: $35.42-$53.13 DOE
Accountabilities
- Oversee and coordinate Vegetation Management (VM) work for all capital projects.
- Coordinate inspections, permitting, procurement, and work implementation that would be necessary for the removal or maintenance of vegetation for construction of new lines or rebuilding existing lines.
- Identify VM work needed to facilitate construction and maintain clearances upon construction completion.
- Read engineering designs to understand the impact of new construction/framing on surrounding vegetation as it relates to compliance and avoidance of vegetation impact on infrastructure
- Communicate with project managers, engineers, and operations during planning, pre-construction, and construction activities to support capital projects.
- Understand utility design standards and be able to offer solutions to vegetation/construction conflicts that arise during the design and project implementation phase.
- Write VM scopes of work for capital construction projects that align with Liberty VM and Industry Standards and Regulations
- Participate in RFP, and contractor selection as needed as VM representative
- Communicate VM standards, specifications, regulations, to project planning group and construction crews
- Provide estimates to perform VM work needed for projects
- Lead VM work bidding and contractor selection process for capex projects
- Participate in business case development for capex planned projects to represent VM department and work cost estimates
- Identify opportunities to improve Liberty’s VM capital maintenance strategy and incorporate IVM practices into capital construction projects to improve vegetation conditions around Liberty infrastructure.
- Assist in emergency response (storms/fires) efforts.
- Develop, implement, and monitor area business plan including scheduling, resource planning for capital projects.
- Assist with the development of budget and resource allocation planning for capital projects and emergency response.
- Coordinate work and resources with North and South System Arborists and System Forester.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Vegetation Management, Natural Resources Management, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in utility arboriculture
- Required certification: ISA Certified Arborist or Registered Professional Forester
- Preferred certifications: ISA Utility Specialist, ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)
