Senior Market Analyst (Business Development)- Origination

The Senior Market Analyst is responsible for providing analytical support, modelling financial outcomes, and coordinating communication efforts both internally and externally for renewable offtake agreements. The candidate will provide competitive pricing and innovative structures in the renewable energy RFP and auction markets. This role will assist the Business Development Team in its efforts to coordinate its future renewable energy asset pipeline with strategic offtake agreements that include negotiating PPAs, VPPAs, ISDAs and EEIs. 

The individual will have the opportunity to establish relationships with some of the largest C&I customers in the industry, and also be monumental in the build out of the origination business.


  • Coordinate amongst internal teams for submitting external bids for future offtake via RFPs and market auctions. Ensure competitive bid process and provide analytics to assist with RFP strategy.
  • Develop market views, and pricing inputs based on RFP process feedback, and communicating that feedback internally to the broader team to assist with future bids.
  • Actively engage on legal agreements, coordinating with internal and external council, credit teams, market risk, and financial analysts.
  • Research regulatory changes, and recent themes in the market to optimize offtake negotiation process
  • Maintain database of future projects, including key economic factors for each of the projects through coordinating with financial analysts, project managers and other key team members
  • Assist with managing key customer relationships, utilize CRM tools, and work to build new relationships with potential offtakers

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in energy and financial modeling or equivalent experience
  • Comprehension of electrictiy markets and/or renewable markets
  • Analysis and modeling skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate spreadsheet skills
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High degree of motivation and flexibility
  • Abiltiy to manage competing priorites and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Experience negotiating PPAs, or ISDAs in renewable energy or in energy more broadly is preferred
  • The individual ideally has data analysis skills, and the ability to work with large data sets. Programming skills in Python or R would be an asset.
