Purpose
The Senior Director, Corporate & Business Development is a strategic enterprise leader responsible for advancing the organization's growth agenda through the development and execution of corporate strategy, evaluation and execution of utility transactions, as well as leadership and support of enterprise-wide growth initiatives.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Corporate & Business Development, the role serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing analytical rigor, market insight, and strategic leadership to identify, assess, and deliver opportunities that create long-term shareholder value. The position operates at the intersection of strategy, corporate development, finance, regulatory affairs, and operations, ensuring enterprise growth priorities are translated into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
The incumbent leads complex cross-functional initiatives, supports mergers and acquisitions activity, develops strategic business cases, and drives execution of enterprise priorities that enhance competitive position, expand utility operations, and support sustainable growth.
Accountabilities
• Lead and support the development and refinement of enterprise strategy in partnership with executive leadership.
• Conduct market analysis, competitive assessments, and strategic planning exercises to identify growth opportunities and enterprise priorities.
• Develop strategic roadmaps and performance measures to monitor execution and achievement of business objectives.
• Lead and support evaluation, due diligence, valuation, and execution of utility acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
• Lead cross-functional due diligence teams and develop investment recommendations for executive leadership and the Board.
• Drive and support transaction negotiation, regulatory filings, integration planning, and synergy realization activities.
• Identify, evaluate, and advance opportunities that support organic and inorganic growth.
• Develop business cases, financial models, and strategic recommendations for investments, expansion opportunities, emerging markets, and new business ventures.
• Partner with operational leaders to translate opportunities into executable plans.
• Lead complex analysis of industry trends, regulatory developments, customer demand, competitive positioning, and economic conditions affecting enterprise growth.
• Develop scenario analyses and strategic options to support executive decision-making.
• Provide insights and recommendations on long-term business planning and capital allocation.
• Prepare strategic presentations, investment memoranda, and executive-level communications.
• Support Board and Executive Leadership Team discussions through the development of comprehensive analyses and recommendations related to growth, strategy, and corporate development activities.
• Lead and influence cross-functional teams across Finance, Regulatory, Legal, Operations, Customer, IT, and Human Resources to advance strategic initiatives and transactions.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including advisors, investment bankers, consultants, regulators, and industry partners.
Education and Experience
• MBA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent advanced professional designation
• Demonstrated experience evaluating and executing mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic investments.
• Experience developing enterprise strategies and leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong understanding of regulated utility environments, infrastructure investments, and regulatory frameworks.
• Advanced financial modeling, valuation, and business case development capabilities.
• Strong strategic thinking and enterprise-wide business acumen.
• Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Strong negotiation, transaction management, and project leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and highly regulated environment.
Compensation Data
Full base salary range $160,000.00- $240,000.00 per year*Liberty considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education, training and skills, and geographic location.
