Senior Director, Analysis and Optimization - Growth

Purpose

The Senior Director Analysis and Optimization – Growth will coordinate all growth reporting within the Growth Business Development team and be responsible for pushing data to meet requirements of other teams within APUC. In addition, the role will be responsible for leading and implementing a process of continual improvement of the reporting tools used by the Growth team. These initiatives will be designed to lever the upcoming enterprise SAP implementation. New growth reporting tools are required to facilitate the next stage of growth.  The Senior Director Analysis and Optimization – Growth will act as a role model for the behaviour needed to encourage and embed change.

Accountabilities

 

The Senior Director Analysis and Optimization – Growth, will champion operational excellence within the development team by leading the transition to efficient process and data management within BD.  The role will empower the growth team by providing timely and efficient access to data required to manage in excess of 50 ongoing growth projects and the continual pursuit of acquisitions.  To succeed the individual must meet ongoing reporting deadlines while evolving and implementing a roadmap for continuous process improvement.  The role will be recognized for eliminating “inefficient” work by introducing and embracing tools that eliminate needless data entry and data manipulation.   The successful candidate will have a proven track record of designing and implementing business processes.  The role is responsible for:

Ongoing Reporting:

  • Coordinating monthly variance reporting meeting between senior growth leadership and finance
  • Producing monthly KPI report
  • Consolidating key data sources for recurring Investment Council and Project Stage Gate Meetings
  • Integrating with Project Finance Oversight Committee to ensure timely delivery of project data to facilitate project financing
  • Monthly update of 12 month and five-year CAPEX estimates for Treasury
  • Coordinating data inputs required during annual budget process
  • Ensuring accurate and timely growth data and forecasts are provided to the ESG team
  • Compiling critical data including total commitments (project spend, guarantees and LCs) and Committed spend relative to the annual budget
  • Consolidating growth data for investor driven meetings and reports, including Quarterly MD&A, Investor Day, and Analyst Calls
  • Work with procurement to track and benchmark key cost elements by project including solar module costs, wind turbine costs, BOP costs, legal and finance.    
  • Process Improvement
  • Identify, design, and operationalize tools in concert with the IT team to streamline ongoing reporting
  • Develop and report on Growth KRI’s working with project managers who maintain project specific risk registers, acquisition teams and risk and compliance teams
  • Develop streamlined process to compile key executive issues list
  • Championing continuous improvement in conjunction with growth team

 

Data Intelligence:
An experienced and creative leader capable of quickly identifying data challenges and sourcing solutions using tools including SAP EAM modules, SalesForce and Power BI. Must be undeterred by obstacles and empowered by process optimization.

Education and Experience

 

Industry 

Has a strong financial background and understanding of data needs of a team responsible for driving growth in a capital intensive / infrastructure environment.  Has a detailed knowledge of viable data optimization tools and approaches to facilitate rapid process improvement in a fast-paced, driven culture.  

Track Record 
A track record of leading a digital transformation, including assessment of tools working with stakeholders to develop or implement transformative solutions.    Solutions will consider requirements from a technology perspective underpinned by process excellence and efficiency.  

Applied Problem Solving 
Has applied problem-solving solid skills (prioritization, critical thinking, hypothesis creation, etc.) in an environment where multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines due at once, are the norm. Has the creativity to develop unconventional ideas and the conviction for having a thoughtful debate.

Exceptional Acumen and Educational Pedigree
In addition to having a professional designation (P. Eng., CFA, CPA, MBA) from a top institution, they have significant experience undertaking thorough financial analyses, data optimization tools and excellent communication skills.
