Senior Analyst, Business Development

Purpose

Assisting in the day-to-day operations of the International Development group. The role of the Sr. Analyst will center on building and updating financial models to support development projects and acquisition opportunities, along with supporting due diligence and documentation activities.

Accountabilities

Financial Analysis:

•Prepare detailed financial models for proposed development and acquisition opportunities and conduct appropriate stress scenario analyses

•Verify and document all major assumptions contained in financial models
•Recommend modeling strategies for acquisition and greenfield project structures based on current industry practices
•Must be able to prepare reliable financial models which will form the basis for major (minimum $25 million) strategic decisions.

•Assist in preparing ad-hoc financial report and analysis

Communication:
•Liaise with finance groups (Tax, Accounting, Treasury, etc.) on a regular basis to track operating and capital expenses in accordance with budget
•Utilize strong communication skills to collect and document information from Algonquin team members and third party partners to support key assumptions"                                                              
•Liaise with treasury group to ensure appropriate capital planning and financial assumptions are included in financial models                                                           
•Defend analytical work directly to their manager, and the department VP                       

 

Market Research:
•Keep up to date on macro-economic trends and renewable energy related transactional activity in LatAm.                                                          
•Keep up to date with trends in the power & utilities space, including technology, construction, financing, etc.             

Due Diligence:

Assist in the due diligence process of potential investment and/or greenfield development opportunities including review of legal documentation and liaising with various Subject Matter Experts (SME) internally and externally             

Education and Experience

  • University - Bachelor degree or equivalent                                                                   
  • 3-5 years of experience
