PMO Specialist

Purpose


This role will support Liberty’s growth objectives in the development of Renewable Energy projects throughout North America by assisting the Project Management Office (PMO) to manage the Algonquin Project Management Methodology (APMM) program for the pipeline of generation and energy storage projects.  The PMO Specialist will work in concert with the Director PMO to build, maintain, train, document, enhance and broaden the integrity of the APMM.

Accountabilities

 

  • Understand, improve, maintain, train, augment, enhance and grow the Algonquin Project Management Methodology (APMM) and processes developed around 8 major project management tools; risk management, cost planning, cost control, stakeholder engagement, WBS and scheduling, change management, project reporting and project initiation. 
  • Create/update standardized project management best practices, processes, and tools within the existing BD project management methodology to support consistent project execution.
  • Assist in 
    • staff training on existing and new APMM protocols 
    • quarterly APMM update training sessions
    • project lessons learned sessions, capturing lessons learned and leading the enablement of process and tool changes as a result
    • "Lessons Learned" database management
    • responses to internal process audits and changes
  • Focus on the development of a culture of continuous improvement (including ‘lessons learned’) for project management capabilities within BD’s Origination, Development and Construction Groups.
  • Interface with various company departments ensuring PMO goals and objectives are met.
  • Ensure effective two-way communication with internal stakeholders for areas of improvement, to understand their needs and develop responses accordingly.
  • Develop tools and processes to improve efficiencies.
  • Research, understand and recommend application of emerging technologies as they may relate to Project Management Office.
  • Performs other related administrative duties of a comparable level/type as required.
     

Education and Experience


We are looking for a person with experience in the power and renewable energy industry and direct experience in the following areas:

  • Project Management Methodologies
  • Process understanding and development
  • Document Management (create/update)
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Be able to multitask well with deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • University degree (Bachelor’s Degree) or equivalent education/industry experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
