Director, Compliance Management

Purpose

 

Reporting to a senior leader in the Chief Compliance and Risk Office, the Director Compliance Management is a key leadership role to advance the enterprise compliance operating model and management system for effective compliance risk management and performance. Working closely with business teams and compliance resources across a number of jurisdictions, functions and business lines, the Director will lead the development and operations of the compliance management system and use of technology tools for the enterprise, driving consistent methods and expectations across compliance risk areas and owners, and supporting the business in evolving supporting policies and work practices.

Accountabilities

 

  • Development and advance enterprise compliance culture and the operating model for business compliance risk areas 
  • Development of compliance management system consistent with industry best practice
  • Key leader for the development of compliance management software platform in collaboration with business teams, and related change management required across the enterprise
  • Oversee and administration of policy governance framework; assistant business with policy development and controls development as needed
  • Work closely with business teams providing training, support and guidance on compliance management activities
  • Perform compliance risk assessment for the enterprise, including review of risk profile and landscape changes, and control effectiveness
  • Provide means to monitor and test compliance controls
  • Report on and drive insights on enterprise compliance performance KPIs
  • Lead on developing and socializing best practice reviews and remediate non-compliances or near-misses; participate in non-compliance reviews for key areas
  • Communicate and train employees in order to build compliance culture and knowledge 
  • Assist with regulatory interactions on compliance matters as need
  • Assist with due diligence activities for projects, acquisitions, and sustainability reporting and positioning as relates to compliance 

Education and Experience

 

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in a senior role in the compliance field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in the energy and/or water sector preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required in associated field. 
  • Experience in development and implementation of compliance management system software tools and associated business change management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex business situations 
  • Must have strong organizational and leadership skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to present issues, insights, results, and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coach multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence across all levels of internal management and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products and in using the internet to perform research.
  • Demonstrated project management planning and organizational skills.
