Desktop Analyst

The role of the Desktop Analyst is to provide support for the build, configuration, execution, deployment, and security of the organization’s user endpoints (includes but not limited to PCs, user virtual machines and mobile computing devices).
As part of this role the individual will Build, Test and Deploy endpoint configurations based on established standards, as well as participate in packaging desktop applications for deployment. In addition, the Desktop Analyst will participate the install and auditing of endpoint patches as well as licensing audits through advanced software discovery and metering tools. The Desktop Analyst will also engage in problem management and escalation support from Service Delivery Staff. As a member of the CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team), the Desktop Analyst will provide proactive and reactive support services in contribution to the maintenance of the security of the organization’s user endpoint devices.


Endpoint Configuration Maintenance and Deployment

  • Build, configure, and execute endpoint configurations (PCs, Mobiles devices, User Virtual Machines etc.)
  • Maintain endpoint configuration standards, procedures and checklists
  • Assist in the maintenance of endpoint management applications/systems (SCCM, AD etc.)

Application Packaging and Deployment

  • Analyze, test and deploy approved applications using endpoint management applications/systems (SCCM)
  • Maintain endpoint application lifecycle within the approved endpoint configurations/platforms
  • Coordinate with Enterprise application owners to document and test ongoing compatibility with endpoint standards

Endpoint Security

  • Assist in the maintenance, configuration and updating of enterprise endpoint security software/tools used in endpoint hardening
  • Assist in Cyber Security Incident Response
  • Coordinate testing and deployment of patches/updates to endpoints and associated standard applications (Microsoft, Adobe, Java etc)

Service Desk Support Escalations

  • Engage in support requests pertaining to application deployment and endpoint security
  • Level 2 support escalations
  • Perform knowledge transfers to Service Desk staff

Education and Experience

  • College or professional program of 3 years or less
  • 3 to 5 years experience
