Compliance Analyst

Purpose

The Compliance department is responsible for creating and maintaining an internal compliance program that ensures the organization conducts business with the highest standards of ethics and integrity and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulation. Reporting into the Director of Compliance Strategy & Performance, the Analyst Compliance Program plays a leading role in framework development and management of the Algonquin/Liberty Internal Compliance Program.

Accountabilities


Compliance program management


• Manage the compliance program, create and establish metrics and performance assessment, and develop regular reporting for enterprise compliance to leadership/executives.  Review and develop existing compliance program elements to meet requirements, including development of record retention approach and ensure embedded within business units.
• Support the compliance framework performance model to ensure successful delivery of the Algonquin/Liberty compliance program.
Strategy and Development of compliance program
• Working with Director, develop the strategy and training approach and content related to the enterprise-wide compliance program development.  Work with HR and business to establish training requirements and cadence. Develop approach to compliance tracking system(s) and work across business units to develop plan to operationalize.
Manage development and administration of corporate policies
• Manage development, administration, and sustainment of corporate policies and procedures, including SharePoint site and governance.  Identify and create new policies and procedures where needed.  Work with technical writers to develop and enhance policies and procedures.
• Support employee training and documentation on compliance related topics, policies, or procedures


Lead on priority compliance Issues


• Identify and analyze factors that may affect risk mitigation and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
• Lead on priority compliance issues and risk areas to present solutions and coaching working with business areas.
• Validate that issues identified through compliance monitoring and review processes are promptly addressed
• Present to leadership and executives.

Education and Experience

• University - Bachelor degree or equivalent, professional designations in compliance or risk preferred
• 1-3 years relevant experience  with exposure to compliance field
• Experience in the energy sector and/or regulatory compliance strongly preferred
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office, Visio and SharePoint required
• Ability to learn new systems
