Analyst III, Infrastructure (Virtualization)

Purpose

 

The Senior Cloud Virtualization Analyst’s role will be part of a dynamic team that is responsible for Cloud Virtualization infrastructure. We are looking for a skilled Azure Specialist with deep expertise in performance tuning, automation, security, and cost optimization within Microsoft Azure environments. Extensive experience managing and optimizing Azure cloud resources, improving efficiency through automation, securing cloud infrastructures, and driving down operational costs without compromising performance or security. Will work closely with the rest of the team to develop skill and implement best practices, ensure high availability, and maintain the security and compliance of our cloud infrastructure.

Accountabilities

 

Cost Optimization:

 

  • Work with governance teams to implement cost savings and monitor/analyze cloud usage to identify additional opportunities for cost savings
  • Implement Azure cost management strategies, including rightsizing, reservations, and eliminating wasteful spending.
  • Update and enforce tagging/landing zone strategies for better cost allocation and accountability.

 

Performance Tuning:

 

  • Optimize the performance of Azure-based services, ensuring scalability, responsiveness, and reliability.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, applying best practices to enhance system efficiency.
  • Implement autoscaling strategies to align resources with demand, ensuring cost-effective performance.

 

Automation:

 

 

  • Design and implement automation workflows to streamline cloud operations using tools like Terraform.
  • Automate routine tasks such as backups, monitoring, and scaling using Infrastructure-as-Code principles.
  • Manage code within GitHub or Azure DevOps.

 

Security and Compliance:

 

 

  • Ensure Azure environments are secure by working with Security teams to implement and maintain security standards.
  • Utilize Azure Policy to ensure compliance of standards and assess compliance across the environments.
  • Work with security to perform audits and assessments, remediating any identified vulnerabilities.


Monitoring and Reporting:

 

 

  • Implement and maintain cloud monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure visibility into performance, security, and costs.
  • Provide regular reports and insights on resource utilization and operational health to stakeholders.
  • Be part of an on call rotation for escalated emergencies out of hours. 


Collaboration:

 

  • Work closely with architecture, operations, and security teams to ensure smooth and secure cloud operations.
     

Education and Experience

 

•    Proven experience in managing and optimizing Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
•    Strong knowledge of Azure Cost Management and cost optimization techniques.
•    Experience with CI/CD automation using Terraform and GitHub or Azure DevOps
•    Expertise in cloud security practices, including identity management, encryption, and compliance standards.
•    Familiar with the Azure Cloud Adoption Framework as it pertains to the Terraform framework
•    Familiarity with performance monitoring and tuning tools within Azure.
•    Strong understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code
•    Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
•    Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide actionable insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

 

Preferred experience:


•    Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, or Azure Security Engineer Associate.
•    Experience with cloud cost analysis tools, specifically, native Azure tools.
•    Experience with hybrid cloud environments and Azure Arc
