Purpose

 

This Project Manager is responsible for facilitating the planning and execution of high priority regulatory project work within Liberty’s Regulatory Department.   Projects include multi-year complex, rate case, audit, and other high profile regulatory projects. The Project Manager will oversee and drive major regulatory projects to deliver within budget, schedule and scope, exercising independence while promoting teamwork across a group of diverse professionals. The Project manager will be responsible for managing multiple projects in various stages of the project life cycle concurrently. 

 

Alongside leadership, develop project plans associated with regulatory proceedings, including developing the project schedule and assignment of tasks, coordinating weekly meetings and identifying tasks that are behind schedule or at risk, assignment and tracking of information needed to prepare regulatory filing or respond to discovery requests, coordination and review of timely discovery responses and facilitation of successful completion of tasks across diverse groups within the business.  Assist with the preparation and implementation of major regulatory filings.  Perform other tasks as assigned.

Accountabilities

 

  • Lead broad-based effort to develop, file, and manage major filings with regulatory commissions in coordination with operating companies.
  • Support overall process for the filings, including responsibility for accuracy and completeness of required schedules, and identification of witnesses and development of testimony.
  • Manage/Oversee/Support key regulatory applications and filings to obtain necessary permits, licenses, certificates, authorizations, and rate approvals.
  • Develop teams and networks that extend across a multi-jurisdictional, diverse business from which to draw necessary information and resources to successfully prepare regulatory filings.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external advisors to develop and manage Company responses on regulatory matters.
  • Understanding of regulatory decisions, rules and information requirements that impact regulatory filings.
  • Manage schedules and coordinate the tracking and follow-up of deliverables for major rate applications and regulatory filings.
  • Promote accuracy and timeliness of filings.
  • Provide training on various software/tools in the timely and accurate submission of discovery requests for regulatory proceedings.
  • Serve as positive leader who sees solutions not obstacles.

Education and Experience

 

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a preferred focus in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related area of study
  • 8+ years' of experience in regulatory or an adjacent function, preferably within the utility industry
  • Ability to motivate direct and/or indirectly reporting project teams.
  • Ability to thrive through transformation processes
