Purpose
Responsible for coordination of communications and information operating a variety of communication equipment including two-way radios, cell phones, and personal computers in order to receive, prioritize, schedule and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls. This position also coordinates internal and external agencies, vendors, and equipment for field crews.
Accountabilities
- Serve as the Dispatcher on shift, supporting all system operations activities, including monitoring system conditions and utilizing advanced control center technologies, including Click, to safely and reliably respond to Gas and Water distribution system disturbances and events.
- Manage normal system events and collaborate with the Senior Dispatcher on more complex issues to determine appropriate actions necessary to safely and reliably restore Gas and Water system operations, including dispatching field crews.
- Manage trouble incidents during normal operating conditions using the Click system and collaborate with the Control Room team, Construction, and Operations to establish priorities and dispatch resources as needed.
- Complete dispatch logs and reports and ensure accurate updates for after-hours repairs and outage restoration activities.Perform crew callouts for emergency work during off-hours.
- Work with the Senior Dispatcher to create and distribute internal notifications for major incidents.
- Act as a customer service representative during off-hours and utilize SAP to create work orders.
- Ensure all emergency orders and short-cycle work are properly scheduled and assigned to technicians through the Click system.Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma required with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a dispatching/call center environment and/or demonstrated experience managing multiple assignments in a customer service environment.Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), SAP systems, work scheduling systems, or dispatching systems preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work systematically to analyze problems and issues, identify causes, anticipate implications, and determine effective courses of action during periods of stress and emergencies.
- Ability to work in a team environment and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently to meet required deadlines.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including day, evening, and night hours, weekends, on-call duties, and Company-recognized holidays.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.Valid driver's license required.
- Must pass Company pre-employment DOT testing and examination.
