TEMPORARY Accounting Clerk

This position is responsible for processing of high volume of invoices and ensuring timely and accurate entry and payment of invoices into the company’s finance system in accordance with company policies and procedures. Offers support during audits and rate cases.


  • Perform the day to day processing of accounts payable transactions in line with Company Policy and procedures. Includes but not limited to processing daily email, batch preparation, vendor invoice data entry, 3 way matching, preparation of checks runs and processing of check runs.
  • Ensure vendor invoices are verified for accuracy and accurately coded
  • Ensure written approvals and purchase orders for all invoices and payments are affixed to documents according to company policy
  • Maintain transactional compliance
  • Process daily bank auto-withdrawals
  • Perform annual 1099 processing in a timely and accurate manner
  • Preform annual escheatment process. Including processing all returned checks, submit customer notices with compliance by state and file all outstanding checks with the state.
  • Responsible for the timely communication and the resolution facilitation of vendor/supplier inquiries
  • Proactively communicate all AP issues and developments to Supervisor/Finance Manager
  • Provide support and assistance during rate cases
  • Assist with new acquisitions
  • Maintain accounting files – scanned and hard copy documents

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma OR equivalent experience which would include some of the following:
  • Minimum of three (3) year performing accounting duties such as:
  • High volume data entry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Pro-active, multi-tasked, self-motivated teammate and positive attitude
  • Accuracy and Detail oriented
  • Ability to work under demanding time constraints with firm deadlines.
  • Demonstration of being a standout colleague who can think creatively.
  • Strong decision making skills within corporate and regulatory standards and guidelines
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Highly self-motivated and organized and has the ability to complete tasks with little to supervision
  • Responsive to changing job demands / flexible when priorities change
