Purpose
Responsible for the supervision and management over the overhead line personnel and Emergency Workers and Troubleshooters of the Electricity Distribution Operations (EDO) group while ensuring the highest level of construction standards, environmental and safety regulations.
Accountabilities
Primary responsibility is to coordinate the planning and completion of department related construction and maintenance with Engineering, Energy Solutions, Dispatch Control, other departments, external customers, public agencies and vendors and work in conjunction with the Planning and Scheduling, and scheduling group to schedule and assign work in a productive and efficient manner. This position reports directly to our Manager, Electric Operations.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Monitor productivity and direct Company personnel and contractors on construction, maintenance, and daily operations.
- Dispatch work to crews through company internal applications such as CLICK. Work with scheduler to ensure timely and efficient completion of all projects.
- Utilize SAP and mapping applications to review completed work to ensure accuracy and completion prior to closing of the work
- Ensure all tooling/equipment and vehicles assigned to the line department are tested in compliance with company standards
- Ensure all team members time and attendance is reviewed and approved prior to the weekly deadline.
- Conduct field visits for incoming jobs and review with Engineering prior to dispatching a crew to the project.
- Conduct weekly safety briefs with the Line department and take part in monthly safety meeting.
- Coordinate and schedule outages with Engineering, Energy Solutions and Dispatch Control for planned projects and repairs.
- Respond to regular and off-hour emergency outages by working with Dispatch Control when required; take appropriate steps to restore equipment and power in a timely manner.
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Schedule, coordinate and/or conduct a variety of training sessions including safety, environmental, new work practices, and new equipment.
- Enforce labor agreements and resolve differences at the department level and administer Company policies such as Positive Discipline and Paid for Time Work.
- Be available for an On Call rotation for part or all of the NH operations.
- Fill in as required to perform Substation or Meter Department supervisory roles.
- May be required to perform physical work during emergency situations as required.
- Oversee employee compliance with DOT regulations.
- Enforce Clearance & Control Rules and act as local control authority as required.
Education and Experience
- Associate's Degree in Engineering or related industry field, and at least (5) years of experience with distribution voltages at 1st class level required.
- Prior supervisory/crew leader experience preferred.
- Flexible with working off-hours and on-call rotations, and the ability to travel outside the Division for emergency assignments and work other shifts as necessary to meet business needs required.
- Electrical utility experience preferred such as knowledge of overhead, underground, substation, engineering, construction and design practices required.
- Supervise work at heights from ladders and staging, and be able to operate aerial devices in general or from confined spaces in extreme temperatures and the ability to lift 50 pounds required.
- Construction knowledge with familiarity of all types of construction equipment, and demonstrate good electrical and mechanical aptitude.
- Thorough knowledge of all rules related to underground and overhead line construction including OSHA 1910.269 required.
- Ability to accurately interpret maps, specification sheets, prints, schematics, diagrams and instructional information to construct, maintain and troubleshoot effectively.
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) required.
