Purpose

The Manager, Finance, supports the property and fixed asset accounting and finance function for all Liberty Utilities electric, gas, and water companies managed within its U.S. Central Region, accounting for over $3B of assets leads a portion of the Property Accounting team. This person will play a critical support role in managing the accounting month-end closing process and regulatory rate cases, data requests, and compliance reporting. The incumbent must have the ability to thrive in team-oriented environments and ensure a high degree of accountability, visibility, and understanding as it relates to the fixed asset reporting, accounting, and operational performance of the organization. The position requires strong communication and management skills and will interact with key members of senior management, operations, regulatory, and tax teams. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Finance.

Accountabilities

• Responsible for the review of month-end accounting system processes for a portion of fixed asset accounting functions, oversight of monthly variance analyses, regulatory support, and high-levels of interactions with the operations team.

• Strong ability to take initiative, manage multiple projects successfully while maintaining commitment to deadlines.

• Provide leadership to a portion of the property accounting team. Review work and provide feedback, training, mentorship, and development to direct reports and other team members.

• Build and maintain strong relationships and effective communication with key stakeholders and functional partners.

• Deliver financial information to the leadership team, including key performance measures and operational metrics.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

•10 years of experience in accounting and finance preferred.

• CPA or MBA preferred.

• Solid understanding of principles of accounting, finance and management accounting required. U.S. public utility sector finance experience preferred.

• Ability to manage of teams. Ensure staff performs at a high-level in an environment of continuous improvement.

• Highly effective communication skills with the ability to present information, create reports, business correspondence, and respond to questions from management and regulators.

• Strong business knowledge with proven ability to provide strategic solutions to complex problems required.

• Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) particularly in Excel required. Knowledge of PeopleSoft, PowerPlan, SAP desired.

• Ability to periodically travel.
