Purpose
As an Engineering Line Technician you will participate in a dynamic team-driven environment to support Transmission and Distribution structural analysis and design. Effectively utilize the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), Liberty Standards and other departmental resources to provide efficient project designs and deliverables. Principal attributes include effective communication skills, driven to follow through on commitments and job responsibilities along with a creative “outside the box” approach to complex problems. The successful candidate will possess the ability to work with others to troubleshoot problems quickly and accurately while recommending or implementing effective solutions.
Accountabilities
- Plan, design, stake and review various design projects to ensure completion that is consistent with company standards and applicable codes.
- Plan, design and review various design projects to ensure timely completion that is cost effective and within budgeted guidelines.
- Specify and evaluate vendor designs and quotations to ensure compliance with specifications and company purchasing guidelines to ensure cost effectiveness over the life of equipment.
- Work closely with engineers, other technicians, operations managers, construction crews and project managers to resolve problems regarding designs, materials, right of way, permits and schedules to ensure successful completion of projects within a given time frame.
- Perform computer-aided design using AutoCAD or other drafting softwares and manual drafting duties as necessary for projects and Transmission Standards updates.
- Assist with document research, printing and project administration related to various projects within the department.
- Assist the Manager of Engineering, engineers, technicians and contract construction as required during emergencies, through the coordination and/or supervision of Liberty, contractor or other repair crews. Extended hours outside of the regular day may be required. Tasks not ordinarily performed may be assigned during the recovery efforts.

Education and Experience
- Experience or Degree in Engineering Technology, GIS, Project Management, Drafting or other Construction/Engineering related field
- Basic job knowledge of electric utility operations and any specialized knowledge of technical, trades, construction, planning or office operations areas.
- Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, AutoCAD applications
