Purpose
The Engineering Technician II position supports the engineering team in design, planning and management of projects. Duties may include but are not limited to: creating work orders, supporting engineering in designing, drafting, estimating, packaging, distributing, and reporting on projects, organizing and maintaining project files and records, supporting project and vendor coordination, and other duties as deemed necessary to achieve department and business goals. As an intermediate technician, incumbent should be able to work with moderate. To be successful excellent organizational skills will be important as there may be many small projects that will need to be completed at a time.
This position requires knowledge and proficiency in a range of technical processes and procedures in order to perform problems/techniques that provide engineering support.
Accountabilities
Work Execution
- Works with moderate degree of supervision or with oversight
- Provides engineering support in the following areas: work order creation, engineering design, calculations, reports, materials & resource estimation, updating systems, preparing data for projects and maintaining project documentation.
- Uses department and records filing systems to keep organized records and control document revisions.
- Continuously develops knowledge of engineering and work management to effectively document and communicate design and workorder requirements, enabling peers to act on work orders efficiently, with limited need to reach out for work order clarification.
- Possess capability to develop written and oral communications related to project information to inform effective decision-making
- Submit permit applications to multiple entities
Problem-Solving
- Work within defined set of procedures/methods with a variety of standard problem-solving techniques
- Manages engineering projects of low to moderate complexity to ensure timely completion that is cost effective and within budget guidelines
Leadership
- Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders
Education and Experience
- College or professional program of 3 years or less
- 1-3 years of experiences
