Construction and Maintenance Truck Driver

Starting Union rate                         43.93

Accountabilities

  • Must possess a valid CDL, Class  B driver’s license within 6 months of starting the position without a CDL license*
  • Must possess a valid CDL, Class A permit within 3 months of obtaining the CDL Class B license*
  • Must possess a valid CDL, Class A driver’s license within 9 months of obtaining the CDL Class A permit*
  • Drive company vehicles, including trucks / trailers assigned to the department
  • General road crew activities including but not limited to the operating of pavement breakers, rock drills, compactors, pinpoint leaks, installation of fittings on mains and services
  • Pinpoint leaks
  • Fuse plastic pipe and fittings by both heat fusion and electro fusion methods
  • Perform leak repairs and maintenance work under the presence of blowing high pressure gas
  • Perform asphalt restoration

*Will be reclassified to Street Person, Class A, if requirements are not met within the time limits indicated.

Education and Experience

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
  • Possess DOT medical card
  • Must be in good physical condition
  • Ability to read English and write legibly
  • Ability to perform general road crew activities
  • Ability to work overtime, scheduled and unscheduled 24/7
  • Ability to work in all types of weather
