Account Manager, Business and Community Development

Purpose

The Account Manager, Business and Community Development initiates, develops, and maintains superior business and consulting relationships with customers, developers, community leaders, and vendors in the communities they serve; in order to influence these stakeholders to use our commodity in an efficient and sustainable manner. The Account Manager should also understand our diverse service portfolio and encourage the customer to take full advantage of the company’s program offerings. Success of this role is measured against growth, expansion, and retention goals set on an annual basis.

Accountabilities

Commercial/Industrial/Municipal Sales:

  • Working directly with Customers, Executives, Facility Staff, Builders/Developers, Contractors, Architects and Engineers to assess natural gas opportunities and develop a comprehensive sales proposal; including Energy Efficiency opportunities
  • Representing and advocating for customer needs with internal departments when required, by directing issues to the proper channels for resolution and improving customer satisfaction
  • Representing the company in targeted local, regional and/or with professional organizations; including trade and business shows.

 

New Construction:

  • Respond to inbound Leads and self-generate outbound Leads for all new construction within a specified sales territory  
  • Work directly with Contractors, Developers, Engineers, and others to drive natural gas usage within new construction projects  
  • Responsible to meet New Construction sales goals which create future sales pipeline for Liberty Utilities.

 

Managed Expansion Projects:  

  • Identify, and sell, residential managed expansion projects with the goal of converting entire streets and neighborhoods to natural gas heating  
  • Identify multi-family structures such as apartment buildings, condo/townhome complexes, etc. for gas conversion  
  • Identify, and sell, other residential opportunities that generate more than 5 new meters  
  • Support the initiatives of the Senior Sales Representatives from time-to-time  
  • Responsible for outbound calling as it relates to Liberty construction projects.


Key Account Management:

  • Provide key accounts with support as needed  
  • Promote Liberty Utilities Energy Efficiency programs to key accounts and work in tandem with the in-house Energy Efficiency Program Manager  
  • Promote natural gas growth opportunities within key accounts

 

Key Partner Management:  

  • Provide key partners (Trade Allies, Preferred Contractor, etc.) with support as needed  
  • Promote Liberty Utilities Energy Efficiency programs to key partners and work in tandem with the in-house Energy Efficiency Program Manager  
  • Promote natural gas growth opportunities within key partners

 

Residential Sales:  

  • Work directly with homeowners to assess natural gas opportunities and develop a comprehensive sales proposal; including Energy Efficiency opportunities  
  • Represent and advocate for customer needs with internal departments by directing issues to the proper channels for resolution and improving customer satisfaction  
  • Respond to inbound Leads generated from marketing campaigns  
  • Outbound calling during the slow-season  
  • Establish and communicate clear expectations to Liberty customers  
  • Represent the company in targeted local/regional trade and business shows

Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree or higher education in Business, Marketing, or related industry experience
  • Direct business development experience may be substituted for degree. 
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience. 
  • Possess strong working knowledge of construction codes and practices
  • Strong understanding of economic development 
  • Knowledge of commercial and residential gas systems 
  • Experience in utility industry would be ideal
