This position reports to Accounting Manager or Senior Manager.  Responsibilities would include financial close activities, analyzing and reconciling balance sheet accounts, accounting for fixed assets with a moderate level of difficulty and complexity.  In addition, support for budgets, forecasting and audit (internal and external) is required. This will be a 1-year contract position. We are a growing organization with ongoing opportunities to be considered for thereafter, supporting our Canadian and U.S. business.


  • Support the month end process through the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Preparation of standard monthly financial reports and analyses, working with department managers and staff to ensure timelines are met
  • Assist in processing accounts payable and employee expense transactions
  • Assist with the project accounting process and the movement of costs through to fixed assets
  • Assist in the internal and external audit processes to ensure efficient audits
  • Various other duties as required to support the overall accounting functions

Education and Experience

  • Related University Degree or relevant experience in Accounting, Business or Finance
  • A minimum of two to five years relevant accounting experience
  • Strong data analysis skills complemented by excellent attention to detail
  • Works well within a multi-disciplinary team environment, respects diversity and values opinions of others
  • Experience with Great Plains and/or SAP is considered a definite asset. 
  • Proficiency with MS Office is essential, with solid Excel skills
  • Excellent organization, planning, and analytical skills
  • High degree of initiative, personal responsibility and integrity
  • Results oriented with sound business judgment
  • Knowledge of SOX controls and US GAAP would be considered an asset #LI-DS1
