Senior Manager, Engineering (Gas Utility)

This position leads the Gas Operations Engineering for Liberty Utilities in Georgia. The position is accountable for the Company’s overall Engineering and Work Management strategies. The incumbent is accountable for ensuring the cost effective delivery of high quality services to internal and external users. This delivery includes assuring compliance with related government codes, standards and compliance with the company's Operations and Maintenance Plan. Timely reporting and completion of required design, field construction work and field surveillance activities are a core responsibility. The incumbent will establish overall corporate policy and standards while working closely with other related Operating departments and the Corporate Operations Modality Team. The incumbent will be accountable to establish the necessary reporting (scorecard) processes to allow the measurement of local performance and will establish the necessary forums and processes for sharing best practices across the Liberty Utilities family of companies.     


  • Oversees the management of capital improvements including planning, budgeting, execution and administration, in order to meet Company objectives. Capital expenditure oversight responsibilities include advising management on capital needs and issues, providing accurate reporting and projections, ensuring that expenditures are being made for top priority and well justified needs.
  • Manage and oversee the design engineering of new main extensions, relocations, commercial and industrial service lines. Reviews City and State Construction plans to identify conflicts with gas distribution facilities. Maintain a safe, reliable & efficient distribution system through the proper management of resources, workload and prioritization.  
  • Manages the implementation of new technologies, policies and procedures within engineering. Promotes advancements in, and the use of, technology to improve system safety and reliability, optimize work flow, and optimize record keeping integrity. 
  • Responsible for promoting sound asset management practices for the long term sustainability of Company utility systems.    
  • Represents the Company at public and private meetings as directed by Company management and/or by established policy and assists in the public relations program of the Company.
  • Establish clear communication of departmental expectations, goals and procedures and ensure that their supporting direct reports meet both divisional and company objectives. 
  • Performs various special projects and other duties that may be assigned by senior management.                                                                                           

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in related Engineering discipline              
  • 10+ years of directly related experience
  • Trajectory of increasing supervisory and management experience
  • P.E. required
