Manager II-Gas, Business and Community Development

The Manager, Business and Community Development initiates, develops, and maintains superior business and consulting relationships with customers, developers, community leaders, and vendors in the communities they serve; in order to influence these stakeholders to use our commodity in an efficient and sustainable manner. The manager should also understand our diverse service portfolio and encourage the customer to take full advantage of the company’s program offerings. Success of this role is measured against growth, expansion, and retention goals set on an annual basis.


Business Development:

  • Ability to influence Customers, State Service Commission Staff, Executives, Facility       Staff, Builders/Developers, Contractors, Architects, and Engineers to assess natural gas opportunities and to develop comprehensive proposals, including additional company program offerings.
  • Gather useful information from customer and competitor data.
  • Identify areas within our current service area that may be future targets for economic development and build relationships with the stakeholders prior to development. 
  • Work in cooperation with our Innovation Team to identify and implement innovative solutions to existing and potential customers.
  • Represent and advocate for customer needs with internal departments by directing issues to proper channels for resolution and improving customer satisfaction. 
  • Representing the company in targeted local, regional and/or with professional organizations; including trade and business shows. 

Key Account Management:

  • Identify and build strong relationships with key accounts. 
  • Promote Liberty programs to key accounts and work in tandem with any in-house program managers. 
  • Promote growth opportunities within key accounts. 
  • Serve as a single point of contact for key accounts regarding any questions they might have including, but not limited to; billing, outage, expansion, reductions, and data requests.
  • Identify and implement innovation to assist customers in meeting their sustainability goals in a business proficient manner


Key Partner Management:

  • Provide key partners with support as needed. 
  • Promote Liberty programs to key partners and work in tandem with any in-house program managers. 
  • Promote growth opportunities within key partners. 

Municipal and Community Development:

  • Identify and build strong relationships with governmental bodies and community leaders
  • Actively participate in municipal and governmental activities within assigned area, including the passage of required governmental agreements and other items of interest to the Company, including the promotion of additional company program offerings. 
  • Actively engage our communities through civic, community, and school activities. 
  • Assist in determining best opportunities to donate company funds and which civicevents to attend to create a positive company image and build brand awareness in each assigned area. 

Other duties:

  • Collect and provide reports on key performance metrics and other activity regularly. 
  • Assist in other areas and commodities of the region, as requested, with growth, key customers, municipal, and community issues and opportunities. 
  • Other duties as assigned; including but not limited to, emergency assignments during prolonged or significant service disruptions, representing the company at business and community events, and supporting the Customer Care, Insights and Solutions departments. 

Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree in Business, Marketing, Economic Development, Engineering and/or another related field preferred.  Direct business development experience may be substituted for degree. 
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience. 
  • Possess strong working knowledge of construction codes and practices
  • Strong understanding of economic development 
  • Knowledge of commercial and residential gas systems 
  • Experience in utility industry would be ideal
